Photo Story: Part 4 - Crete

This is part 4 of 4 of Our Honeymoon In Greece.

The last leg of our trip would take us to the island of Crete, the largest of the Greek Islands.

We only had a couple days in Crete, which given its size and diversity, wasn’t nearly enough time. You could easily spend a week just on Crete. What we did see was a far cry from what we saw in Mykonos and Santorini. The area we stayed in and explored was more urban and less touristy. While not a favorite location, it was a great contrast to the other islands.

In hindsight, we couldn’t have picked a better locale for our honeymoon. We’re already planning to go back for our 10-year anniversary.

After our time in Crete, we took a short one-hour flight back to Athens, where we would stay for one more night before heading home. The next 16 hours were interesting, to say the least.

Our last night in Athens marked the start of anti-government protests that would go on for months. As Parliament was very near our hotel, we were up most of the night due to the protesters’ chants and cheers. Over the next few months, the protests turned into full-scale (and violent) riots and civil unrest. Fortunately, we missed that part.

About

I’m a photographer and designer from Richmond, TX, and I’ve been working in the photography/design field since around the year 2000. I’ve had a love and respect for photography since somewhere around my early teens. Twenty-something years later, that love and respect has grown into a full-blown passion, born into a business several years ago.

What do I love most about photography? I love the ability to freeze time - to capture a fleeting moment forever and share it with the world. I love walking through our home and seeing beautiful photographs of our family, friends, and travels adorning our walls.

I have a passion for travel and love to see the world, camera in hand. In fact, I offer original, exhibition-quality fine art prints made from photos taken on my travels.

I love movies, music, Starbucks, and just about anything made by Apple.

Most of all, I love my family, especially my wife, Aimee - take a look at some photos from our honeymoon in Greece - our son, Kellen, and our other “kids”, Bailey, Buster, and Piglet.
