  1. How can I get more information, such as pricing, and book my portrait session?

For more information, including pricing, and/or to book your portrait session, simply contact us, and we’ll get you set up.  Your session payment is required (in full) to reserve your session date and time.

  2. When and where can I schedule my portrait session, and what if I need to reschedule?

Portrait sessions are generally scheduled on weekends in the late afternoon/early evening when the light is best.

Your portrait session will take place at a location of your choosing, such as your home or favorite park.  If you don’t have a location in mind, we can offer suggestions.  A travel fee may apply for locations that require excessive travel.

If inclement weather becomes a problem or you run into a scheduling conflict, just let us know in advance so we can reschedule.

  3. How long does everything take?

Sessions normally last about an hour, which is usually plenty of time to capture a wide range of images.  An additional fee may apply for sessions in excess of one hour.

Within about a week of your session, you, your family, and your friends will be able to view your images online in a password-protected gallery.  Your image gallery will remain online for two weeks to allow time for you to place your order(s).  Upon expiration, you may extend your online gallery for an additional fee.

Unless otherwise stated, print orders are normally fulfilled in 2-4 weeks, not including shipping (to you) time, if applicable.

  4. How many images (proofs) will I end up with?

While every portrait session varies, you’ll typically end up with 30-60 images (proofs) to choose from in your online gallery.  We do our best to remove unusable (blinks, sneezes, etc.) or duplicate images to make the selection process as easy as possible.

  5. Can you offer any tips to help me look my best?

Once you book your session, we’ll provide you with some tips to help you look your best and get the most out of your session.  Here’s the super-short version… Darker colors are more slimming; subjects should complement each other, clothing-wise; and try to avoid busy patterns in your clothing.

  6. What portrait session packages do you offer and how much do they cost?

Traditionally, photographers tend to offer portrait packages that include certain quantities and sizes of prints.  We think that’s a bit restrictive, so our “packages” are a little different.  We offer portrait sessions in multiple tiers, each including a gift card good toward prints and most other products.  Higher tiers include a higher-value gift card but also offer more cost savings.

While we don’t offer portrait packages in the traditional sense, we do understand the need for quantity discounts.  Quantity discounts are available when ordering five or more copies of an image in some of our more popular sizes - perfect for ordering several copies of your favorite image to give to family members and/or friends, for example.  We also offer quantity discounts when ordering 25 or more prints of an image for inserting into your own greeting cards or announcements.

Portrait sessions start at $135 without an included gift card and $200 with a $75 gift card and go up from there.  Feel free to contact us for all the details.

  7. Can I upgrade my portrait session after the initial purchase?

Yes, you can upgrade your portrait session right up until (and including) the day of your session.  We can even take payment (credit card included) for upgrades before or even at your portrait session.  Please be aware that once you’ve purchased your portrait session, you cannot downgrade.

  8. What forms of payment do you accept?

Accepted forms of payment include cash, check (payable to “Chris Watts Photography & Design”), or credit card.

  9. Aside from standard photographic prints, what other products do you offer?

Aside from our Signature Prints, we offer a number of other products, including Collage Prints, Canvas & Gallery Wraps, Float Wraps, Image Blocks, Metal Prints, Greeting & Holiday Cards, and Hand-Made Frames by Obrien Shriddle Designs.

If you’re looking for something special, let us know, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

  10. Is artwork/retouching included?

Basic retouching, such as removing blemishes, minimizing stray hairs, whitening teeth, and softening facial lines is included with all finished portrait products.  The only exclusions are Digital Proofs and Proof Books.  More advanced retouching is available for an additional fee.  Don’t worry, you’re going to look great in your finished products!

  11. Can you offer any guidelines regarding color vs. B&W prints, cropping, and/or print sizes?

Please refer to the following guides for some tips…

  12. Do you offer print-ready digital files (also referred to as digital negatives)?

Print-ready digital files (including artwork/retouching) are available at various sizes, depending on your needs.  Feel free to contact us for details.

  13. What about images for social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)?

For each image from which you order a print or other product, you’ll receive a screen-optimized image file for use on social media sites at no additional cost.  These images look great on your smartphone, tablet, or computer as well. You also have the option to order social media images à la carte.

  14. Am I allowed to share or copy my images?

All of our images are protected by federal copyright laws.  Images may not be reproduced, printed, altered, or otherwise used in whole or in part without prior consent.  Scanning of prints and other products is also a violation of this copyright.
